Tiana Mangakahia was an exceptional Australian basketball star whose courage and determination inspired people around the world. Growing up in Queensland, she quickly rose through the ranks of Australian basketball before earning a scholarship to Syracuse University (Near New York), where she became one of the top players in US college basketball. Known for her leadership, creativity and fierce competitiveness, Tiana was widely admired both on and off the court.

In 2019, at just 24 years old, Tiana was diagnosed with stage 2, grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, a form of breast cancer. She faced treatment with extraordinary strength, undergoing chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and reconstruction. Sharing her journey through #TOUGH4T, she became a powerful advocate for breast cancer awareness, particularly for young women and athletes.

After completing treatment, Tiana made an inspiring return to basketball, rejoining Syracuse and later signing with the Sydney Flames in the WNBL. Her comeback became a symbol of hope, resilience and the enduring power of passion. In 2023, Tiana was re-diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Even as her health declined, she continued to play the game she loved for as long as she physically could, showing the same determination and heart that defined her entire career.

Tianas passing in 2025 left a profound impact on the basketball community and everyone touched by her story. Her legacy lives on through her advocacy, her courage and the TOUGH4T Incorporated Association.
